Anne of Green Gables audiobook guide - Audrey app
Anne of Green Gables audiobook with guide by May Toudic and illustrations by Weronika Marianna, exclusive to Audrey.
Possibly the most delightful book ever written, Anne of Green Gables takes us to a time and place that seems simpler than the one we find ourselves in today - Prince Edward Island off the east coast of Canada in the late 19th century. We accompany Anne, a young orphan girl, through her early teenage years, and we challenge you not to fall in love with her and the world – full of natural beauty, gratitude and wonder – that she inhabits.
Little Women audiobook guide - Audrey app
Little Women audiobook with guide by May Toudic and illustrations by BĂ©atrice Malleret, exclusive to Audrey.
A tale of sisterhood and growth, Little Women is a timeless classic for all ages.
The four March sisters are wildly different. Meg, the eldest, is caring and responsible but dreams of a more luxurious life. Jo, the tomboy of the family, wants to join their father fighting in the civil war and become a famous writer. Sweet Beth is fragile but wise, and Amy, the youngest, is artistic, fond of beauty, and often vain and impetuous. Together, the sisters grow from rumbunctious girls to young women, through laughter, heartbreak and more than a few disasters.
Despite the major advancement in social justice made in the past decades, modern media is still lagging behind when it comes to diversity and the representation of marginalised communities. This poses an important question for the field of adaptation studies: what is adaptation’s role in this issue and how can it properly address issues of social justice and bring more diverse stories to popular media? My PhD thesis postulates that, by bringing new perspectives to older works of literature, re-visionary adaptation of Victorian women’s buildingsromane can bridge the gap between past, present and future and between individual and society in order to advocate for social justice.
